another week in Italia

Image
This week was full of adventures such as getting stuck downtown for 8 hours, the font not getting filled on time for the anziani's friend Nino's baptism, (buckets save the day once again:)) and hiding in the most boujee mcdonalds I've ever seen!! Through it all Sorella Wall continued to amaze me with her positive attitude and ability to say "okay plan A didn't work, onto plan B!" Before English course yesterday we had a lesson with our friend Giusy that was so powerful and full of the Spirit! We talked about the sacrament, the plan of salvation, baptism, the Holy Ghost, our missionary purpose, the Sabbath day, the word of wisdom, and the temple!! We were not planning on all of that haha but she had so many amazing questions! Also her and the member in the lesson almost immediately became best friends and they are planning to sit by each other in church this sunday! It is so amazing to see the light of Christ flow into someone's life. Every t...

i love this life

Wednesday 17 July 2024 i love this life Some weeks are just so good and I feel so grateful to be living this beautiful, exhausting, spirit-filled, simple life of being a missionary for Jesus Christ.  "O then, is not this real? I say unto you, Yea, because it is light; and whatsoever is light, is good, because it is discernible, therefore ye must know that it is good" (Alma 32:35)  I met a lady named Elisabetta on the bus the other day. She is from Israel! She gave me a big smile and invited me to sit by her and we started chatting. She is such a light in this world! It got me thinking how cool my job is. I get to meet and talk to people from all over the world! I've met people from Israel, Mauritius, Germany, France, Greece, Montenegro, the UK, Russia, Brazil, Ethiopia, just to name a few! I get to talk to them in a beautiful language I love, learn about their perspectives, families, beliefs and then I get to share mine! I get to tell them about my rock and...

i survived my first volcanic eruption 🌋

This week was so crazy and so so good LET'S GO! First off- mt etna blew her top! Lowkey scary but also such an adventure! Sorella Roney and I were on a scambio (exchange) and walking to English class when suddenly we felt a weird sensation on our arms and faces, we're looking at each other like whattt is this and then she points to my hair and says there's all these black pieces in my hair! We turn and look towards etna and see the BIGGEST PLUME OF SMOKE I have seen in my entire life and realize IT'S RAINING ASH?!?! Definitely an eerie experience and also so sick at the same time haha. Don't get to say you survived a volcanic eruption everyday lol. It kept coming down all night and we woke up to a winter wonderland... except it was black! Something I'll never forget was walking out and seeing people shoveling their driveways and sidewalks... of ash from the volcano. All the Italians are so chill about it and they even love it they're all like...

"Sono Pronta"

Let's get this week started with some AMAZING NEWS YAY!!!!!  1) My bestie model and loves Jesus friend, Alice, will be baptized on July 27th!   We asked her how she was feeling about baptism and she simply said "sono pronta." (I'm ready.) I was able to extend my first baptismal invite of my mission and there was such a sweet but powerful Spirit present. Then she started talking about how baptism is a responsibility and not just a one time decision but a decision we make every day and every week when we take the sacrament and ahh she is just so golden. I want to go to relief society with her for the rest of my life just so I can hear her comments because I learn so much from her every time!! She is amazing and so ready to make this first step on the covenant path! 2) My high school cross country coach is an OLYMPIAN!! Just got to throw that in there because I learned so much from her and am so inspired by Coach Marisa. The morning after we found out she ma...
