another week in Italia
This week was full of adventures such as getting stuck
downtown for 8 hours, the font not getting filled on time for the
anziani's friend Nino's baptism, (buckets save the day once again:)) and
hiding in the most boujee mcdonalds I've ever seen!! Through it all
Sorella Wall continued to amaze me with her positive attitude and
ability to say "okay plan A didn't work, onto plan B!"
Before
English course yesterday we had a lesson with our friend Giusy that was
so powerful and full of the Spirit! We talked about the sacrament, the
plan of salvation, baptism, the Holy Ghost, our missionary purpose, the
Sabbath day, the word of wisdom, and the temple!! We were not planning
on all of that haha but she had so many amazing questions! Also her and
the member in the lesson almost immediately became best friends and they
are planning to sit by each other in church this sunday! It is so
amazing to see the light of Christ flow into someone's life. Every time I
see Giusy she seems happier, lighter, and more Spirit filled and I know
these are the effects and power of reading the Book of Mormon and
learning about the true Gospel of Jesus Christ! It is a beautiful
process to watch and it amazes me when I think back to the moment on the
street a few weeks ago when I felt a very distinct prompting from the
Spirit to talk to her. God is so good!
A
big highlight this week was having breakfast for dinner on the rooftop
of Brother Craven's apartment building! It was absolutely stunning with
the sun setting over etna and the sea.
To top the night off we had a great book of mormon study with a new member family and 2 investigators!

Tonight
we went to the North's house. One of my favorite places. Sister North
is brazilian and was a convert to the church after being a member and
missionary for the Jehovah's Witnesses and Brother North is American and
works for the military, which is what brought them to Italy. They are
absolutely incredible and Sorella North's conversion story and the story
of how they met is one I will never forget. I love Sister North's bold
and straightforward brazilian personality that is also so full of the
Savior's charity and generosity. Brother North is such a wonderful
example to me of unfailing patience and humble service to the Lord day
after day after day. I have learned so many lessons from them including
the absolute necessity of having the Spirit be with you, true conversion
being a lifelong process, and always having 'leftovers' for those who
may have need. (Sorella North always cooks more food than the amount of
people she invited just in case someone else comes or she sees someone
who is hungry.)
Anyway
moral of the story this week- I feel so blessed for all the people
Heavenly Father is placing in my life and humbled by the lessons and
things I am learning about the world, myself, and my Savior Jesus
Christ.
I love you all!!
Sorella McCune
