Wednesday, June 25: The continuous Atonement
HOWDY! how's life been treating y'all?
i'm running out of opening line ideas sorry hahaha.
Sooo... the Morris' left

They
came to the vc on tuesday with our new mission president & his wife
and we were all a mess oof. Goodbyes are not always my forte. Watching
the mission leaders who have helped me work through the ups and downs of
the past 16 months and been my parents away from home walk away to
their flight home was rough but... The Walker's are INCREDIBLE.
Plus they're from idaho so they get points right off the bat haha.
But no, they're actually amazing and their daughter Alyssa who leaves in
August for Brazil is soo cute and we're going to train her right up to
be a vc sister with us for the next month haha! I'm excited to get to
know them better.

I've been reading a book
called "The Continuous Atonement" by Brad Wilcox lately. Definitely
recommend to you all if you're looking for a new read. SO much good
stuff is packed in but I wanted to share a couple things that really
resonated with me this week.
quote #1: "An
elder in my mission once wrote: 'I always wanted to see Christ. I always
felt like that would be the ultimate, but if you think about it,
everyone will see Him one day. Just seeing Him doesn't change a person.
The ultimate is not seeing Him, but having Him see His countenance in us." Bars. I have nothing to add here.
quote
#2: "Jesus doesn't need followers to give Him self-esteem, authority,
or power. He stands supreme completely independent of followers.
However, He does receive from disciples something that all the esteem,
authority, and power in the universe cannot offer: joy... our ability to bring God joy is endless." Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ find joy in our faithfulness, our obedience, our consecration. They especially find joy in our repentance. They
rejoice as we choose to apply the power of the Atonement of Jesus
Christ in our lives. On the flip side, they grieve when we choose not to
accept this gift they offer us.
I've
loved following President Nelson's invite to study more deeply the
Atonement of Jesus Christ. President Morris often invites us to move
beyond a superficial understanding of the greatest event in the history
of the world. Doing this has changed me and my perspective! I invite you
all to do the same.
Love you!

Ciao, Presidente & Sorella Morris!
