Wednesday, May 21: mullberries & homemade pasta
HEY it's your favorite italian missionary back againnn
After
464 days I'm honestly impressed and love you for the fact that you're
still following along on my mission journey haha. You're the best. This
week's italian adventure took place in a little country town called
Sabina, an hour out of Rome. We went to visit a member and when we
pulled up to her little yellow cottage she handed us mason jars and told
us to go pick mulberries off their two mulberry trees. It was so green
and their 2 acres of property were beautiful. Then we came in and made
fettuccine noodles by hand! Complete with a sauce al ragù it was
perfect. The member, Sorella Guidara, told us that if she or another
grandkid had a stomach ache, her grandma would always say "a plate of
pasta solves everything" and would make them a plate of fettuccine al
ragu. haha i love italians. Anyway, night of our lives making pasta with
an italian and some of my best friends.
One
of my favorite songs right now is called daddy's dna. I'll leave it
below if you guys want to listen. It talks about the story of the
prodigal son. Lately in the visitors center so many people have been
connecting with that story in the stained glass. They've told me their
stories about how they were the prodigal son, they were the lost sheep,
and Christ found them.
I love this quote from President Holland:
"However late you think you are, however many chances you think you have missed, however many mistakes you feel you have made or talents you think you don’t have, or however far from home and family and God you feel you have traveled, I testify that you have not traveled beyond the reach of divine love. It is not possible for you to sink lower than the infinite light of Christ’s Atonement shines."
No one is ever too far from the love of God. Take steps to come back to him today, no matter how near or far you are.
here's the song:)
