Wednesday, February 19: best day ever.'
Saturday might just have been the most beautiful day of my whole mission.
They
did it!! My best friends are baptized and confirmed members of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!!! I wish I had words to
describe the joy and spirit that was there. Everyone who came felt it.
Everything went smoothly except the font overflowing (oops colpa nostra
) but better to have too much water than not enough right haha?

So
many members and friends came, as well as 2 of Danilo's daughters and
Monica's sister! Monica and Danilo felt loved and supported by their new
ward family which was exactly what we hoped for. The Petrollini's,
Salvatori's, and a few other members sang a song about knowing people in
the preexistence and promising to come find them and help them along
the covenant path and I don't think there was a dry eye in the whole
chapel. Danilo and Monica bore their testimonies at the pulpit together
and it was so, so amazing. Danilo said "Sento Gesù Cristo al fianco di
me" (I feel Jesus Christ next to me.) and Monica said "Cercavo sempre la
chiesa di Gesù Cristo, e adesso l'ho trovato." (I always searched for
the church of Jesus Christ, and now I've found it.) They said "nel nome
di Gesù Cristo, amen" at the same time together at the end it was so
cute.
I think the most
special moment of the whole night though was the actual baptism. I had
the opportunity to wait at the top of the stairs with Monica's towel
when she came out of the font. I wrapped it around her shoulders and
gave her the biggest hug while she cried. I couldn't help thinking how
special it was to be hugging the cleanest, purest person on the whole
earth at that moment. And one of my dearest friends too. The image I
will never forget was stepping back and watching Monica wrapped in her
towel all pure and white watching as Danilo was baptized. I will never
forget that moment.
In my mission call letter I was promised this:
I have found that
greater joy and those blessings. I testify this promise is true and will
be fulfilled for every missionary that embarks in the service of God
and serves Him with all their heart, might, mind, and strength. Sweet is
the work of bringing souls to Jesus Christ.
Thank you for all your prayers!!!
