SHE'S A RUNNER
Hellooooo and happy summer everybody!
Things
are starting to heat up down here in Sicilia, (quite literally-there
was a huge fire the other day but tutto bene!) but me and my new
companion, Sorella Wall, are ready to conquer the heat in our apartment
with no AC!! 
hahaha we'll be fine... Also- SHE IS A RUNNER!!! Answer to prayers.
We've run every morning since being companions (down by the sea hehe)
and my soul is slowly starting to heal.

and my soul is slowly starting to heal. Sorella
Wall is a grinder of a runner and a grinder of a missionary! I don't
think I've ever worked this hard in my life and also had this much fun
while doing it!
It kind of feels like everything
that could've gone wrong this first week went wrong lol, but Sorella Wall
has showed so much patience and flexibility that inspires me.
There
have been so many times where we could've given up and cried but we
have both just chosen to laugh and it has made things so much happier.
I'm so excited and happy to be working with her here in Catania!
I
was reading Alma 16:21 this week and I loved the phrase "the word of
God being preached in its purity in all the land." There are so many
simple, pure, eternal truths to be found in the scriptures- the word of
God. I absolutely love as a missionary having one full hour of time each
day to study the scriptures and the words of living prophets. I love it
so much that sometimes I wish I could just keep on studying all day
haha! The words of the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, have
truly become delicious to me. Sometimes it is overwhelming and I just
want to know it all right now!! But as I study day by day with the
companionship of the Spirit and prayer I learn the exact truths that I,
and a lot of the time someone else I meet that day, need to learn.
I
invite you all to make time to study the scriptures each day. I know
it's hard in the summer and even in the school year (so basically all
the time hahah) to find time and I know I wasn't the best at it growing
up BUT please please make time to study the scriptures. Read with a
notebook and jot down what you learn. Mark things that stand out to you
by the Spirit and don't be afraid to stop and reread a verse, pause and
ponder. I promise as you do this you WILL feel the joy that Alma speaks
of:
"It beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea it
beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea it beginneth to be
delicious to me." (Alma 32:28)
I've
seen this in my dear, hilarious, sassy, sweet 50 year old friend
Antonella. As she has made the scriptures a more prevalent part of her
life I have watched as she's begun to understand and love the words and
stories of the Book of Mormon. Just this week I was thinking how amazing
it is and how far her comments and responses to our questions have come
during our discussions! It is so so cool to see this growth and promise
take place right before my eyes!
Mamma mia what a life.
