Homecoming Talk in Sacrament Meeting

Image
Kylene shared her testimony and experiences from her mission in the Silverleaf Ward Sacrament Meeting on Sunday, August 17. Many people came or tuned in over Zoom to listen to her speak. Here is her talk:   Homecoming Talk - 17 agosto 2025 Good morning brothers and sisters, it is such a pleasure to be with you this morning in my home ward. This is the biggest and fullest chapel I’ve been in for the past 18 months haha so I’m a little overwhelmed as I look at all of you but as I see you sitting here I’m filled with so much love and gratitude. I just want to take a second to thank each of you. Thank you for the support you gave me and my family the past 18 months. Your prayers were felt and all of the supportive emails were so appreciated. I also want to thank you for the support you gave to my brother Spencer as he prepared for and began his mission to Honduras last month. Shoutout to you Spencer:)  I’m going to be doing things a little backwards this morning but as I ...

Kylene is HOME!!

Kylene arrived home around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13! She flew from Rome to Chicago, then Chicago to Boise. After her originally scheduled flight through Dallas was cancelled, they rerouted her, but she made it home only about an hour later than originall planned. What a joyous reunion!

Wednesday, August 6: Catholic trek & the last hurrah🤠  CIAO!  we made it!!! 18 months serving God in the bank baby ️ ...only a lifetime to go:)  First of all s/o to y'all. You guys are the best for following along my whole mission! I love you guys I'll be home next wednesday and would love to see you at my homecoming talk on sunday, august 17th @1:30!  Someone asked me this week what the biggest lesson/change I saw in myself was on the mission. A hard question to answer but after a year and 1/2, I'd have to say God has increased my capacity in so many things. My capacity to love. My capacity to feel joy. My capacity to have patience with others and God's plan for me. I could go on. Missions are simply the best and I loved every second. 10/10 recommend;)  This week an estimated 1 MILLION youth from the catholic church traveled to Rome from all over the world for the Jubilee. The Pope spoke to them on Sunday at an event center about 20 minutes...

Tuesday, July 29: talked with an apostle:)

Tuesday, July 29: talked with an apostle:)  Yesterday we received a message from our zone leaders asking us to be at the visitors center at 10am, ready in our best dresses. Turns out Elder Rasband had taken a 2 week vacation in Italy with his family and called a special mission conference on his last day of the trip. I felt so blessed and lucky to be one of the about 40 missionaries serving in Rome who got to attend in person. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room in the vc where the meeting was being held is how strong the Spirit was. I am grateful for all the missionaries who prepared spiritually. Elder Rasband walked in after a session at the temple with his wife and 2 of his kids and their spouses. He was dressed in more casual slacks that didn't match the color of his suit jacket and he was wearing tennis shoes haha cause he was on vacation and said they wanted to pack as light as possible! I was invited to lead the music and we all sang "I Stand all Amaze...

Wednesday, July 23: 😇

Wednesday, July 23: 😇 This week was so fun. Something I love about being Sorella Yardley's comp is how happy she makes life. She's the first to laugh at any little thing and always smiles no matter how tired she is. She's just what I needed this last month to get me on through haha.  We had 2 friends come to the baptism of a friend of the anziani, Innocent. Innocent is such a down to earth guy and adds "by the grace of God" to literally every sentence haha I love him. Sorella Yardley & I played a piano duet at the baptism and after our friend Margherita asking a member what temperature the water is in the baptismal font, she responded "Good, I want mine warm at my baptism." Stay tuned hehe   Tonight we went out finding at a park and started talking to a woman named Bruna. She has 9 kids and lives in very humble circumstances. Her kids were playing at the park and when we asked her if she'd like to talk about Jesus Christ with us sh...

Wednesday, July 16: last/first zone conference :( :) This week flew by. The bad news is that Thursday was my last zone conference (#depressed ) but the good news is that it was Sorella Yardley's FIRST! Yay! haha this transfer has been so funny- tons of lasts and firsts at the same time. We did it with 3 zone's combined which was hype and, as expected, President and Sorella Walker did such an amazing job. One little miracle was that Sorella Smith, Sorella Davis, and Anziano Hinton were all there, and since we were all in the mtc together it was so fun ending together too.  SIDE NOTE- Monica just texted me and she and Danilo were called as ward missionaries  their first calling!!!! so proud.  ok back to it-Miracle of the week!! My companion and I were on the balcony watching the sunset and responding to people when I saw this person sitting on a bench at the park across the street from our apartment. The Spirit told me "go talk to her!!". I had a couple doubts but I as...

Wednesday, July 9: Mini me  Ciao!!  My new companion arrived in Rome last Thursday and it's been the best time ever since. Her name is Sorella Yardley and she's from Cedar City Utah. Anddd we're basically the same person haha it's actually crazy how much we have in common. I love her to death!! (plus she goes on runs w/ me in the morning so she's already the best lol.) She has such a love and fire for missionary work already and just wants to learn anything and everything I have to teach her. She is gonna do big things in Italy and this mission! I'm so grateful to get to work with her for this last transfer.  Besides a gas station exploding in our area (luckily no one died) I didn't see any fireworks for the 4th of July but HAPPY 4TH EVERYONE MAN I LOVE AMERICA (rip celebrating my favorite holiday)  A sister I live with who's Australian kept saying "Happy 4th!" to everyone she came in contact with lol she got a kick out of that and ...
